Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for modular construction projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.

The role involves close collaboration with our in-house design, engineering, and procurement teams to develop precise costings and support the successful delivery of projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs, for modular building projects.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and 3D models to extract quantities and prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
  • Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare contingency plans to account for project uncertainties.
  • Maintain an up-to-date cost database for materials, labour, and subcontractor rates.
  • Support the procurement team in contract negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Liaise with project managers and finance teams to track actual costs against estimates and identify variances.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, building regulations, and market pricing to ensure competitive and compliant estimates.

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating, preferably within the modular or offsite construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, materials, and methodologies, particularly in modular and volumetric construction.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Excel; experience with 3D modelling and BIM is a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with suppliers and internal teams effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in preparing cost estimates.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
